What's the case with people who can't answer with "yes"?

Sometimes (often, actually!) when people are focused on something, they have a sort of tunnel vision that makes them blind to what seems quite obvious (common sense) to others who are not fixated on the same thing and who, therefore, are able to maintain a broader view.
